"Pharmaceutical research feeds a pipeline that has reached historic highs and is poised to grow further towards personalised medicine and connected care. Innovative therapies, prevention, adherence and appropriateness are fundamental to the progress of treatment and the well-being of society, and it is therefore necessary to guarantee access to them for all patients. At the same time, in order to ensure the economic sustainability of the various systems, it is important to rethink governance, eliminating bureaucratic complexities and measuring the value of treatments not in silos, but along the entire therapeutic pathway, in order to ensure the effective sustainability of the system and not just of a single item of expenditure. This means adopting more modern mechanisms for measuring and financing pharmaceutical expenditure, based on Real World data and on the outcomes of therapies in the continuous process of treatment and care."
